Nice post. I am a big fan of networking online and all of the methods you mention here.

Interestingly though, the main value I get from LinkedIn is in using it together with face to face networking. I get much more from both by using them together.

Hi Sian, I remember Cindy King (Editor at Social Media Examiner) telling me a few years ago that the difference between the people who really get it online and those that don't is networking. Networking is the secret sauce in ensuring that you build an effective personal brand, but many miss it completely.
