3 days after our previous post on Whole Foods, its boycott group has grown from 23k to 28k fans. Meanwhile, two pro Whole Foods groups, “Support Whole Foods and Free Speech” and “I Support Mr. John Mackey and Whole Foods Inc” were set up; each with 3k fans.

All John Mackey was doing was exercising his constitutional right to freedom of speech. If you don't agree with freedom of speech, then go join a socialist or totalitarian government. The fact that you would boycott an American business shows no patriotism whatsoever. That kind of thinking is ruining the American economy and is just sad and sorry for us true Americans who defend the constitution. John Mackey was stating alternatives, ie. other ways of dealing with this problem. It's close-minded and overly defensive to think that he was doing otherwise. Also, to think that liberals are the only ones who support Whole Foods (and they claim it as 'their' 'hub'), you are truly using a gross generalization of assuming that leftists are the only ones in this nation that care about their health and want to stay healthy. Quite the contrary. This nation is full of corruption, and then asking the corrupt to take over one more thing: health care, that's just the end of this country as we know it. I stand by John Mackey 100%, and for every dollar you don't spend there, I hope the rest of us in America can spend 10. God Bless America, and God Bless an American company that started its beginnings right here in the good ol' U.S. of A., in Austin, Texas!

I had test the "sour vote" on this entry. Willis Wee: Please take this in the right way! ;)

The "Whole Foods Boycott-ers" have not won. I support Whole Foods decision and John Mackey's right to speak up. What I understand from the situation, the employees of Whole Foods have great benefits, including health care support. John Mackey's whole (pun intended! ;) ) point was to say that health care should be run in the same way as other businesses. Health care is not a right, it is a service that has a value and should be paid for by the customer / patient. Companies could help their employees with this service and sign contracts with health care providers. The thing is that we should not forget that you can't provide health care under pressure for a long period of time. The providers don't want to be slave under a socialized system. They want to be valued in the same way as other service providers in other industries.

If you don't like John Mackey or Whole Foods, vote with your wallet and don't shop there. Please don't use pressure groups and shady politics into the market place.
