Social Media offers many businesses and organizations a unique platform to promote their cause. But as we have seen with a bunch of campaigns recently some companies are choosing to abuse their twitter profile and social media presence with spammy twitter marketing campaigns.

I think that although this article brings out some good points I also think that if the point of social media is to find and connect with like minded people, and you end up following a bunch of people then send information your not interested in then you should probably look at how you use social media (since your the one following them).

In regards to the trending topics although they can be spammed they generally reflect what others are talking about and not necessarily your interests. It would be nice if Twitter added a your network trending topics.

I would love to see more companies in social media working towards social good, in fact I would also like to see more non-profits running campaigns like the moonfruit one and getting thousands of people involved in doing good I'd follow them even if they were used to get on the trending topics, because I like those types of campaigns and I like to encourage others to discuss them.

Thanks for the thought provoking post.

This was a thought-provoking read for me. I wonder if those twitter games (where you go around killing people or doing something negative), put people in the wrong mindset... it seems that some people have a hard time coming up with "good" ideas.

This article might help to get on the right track.
