My grandmother and mum will always say that it costs nothing to be nice. A simple thank you, or a little thought like you say in your third point - these cost nothing.
And while I sometimes disagree with someone and even if I think they are an idiot, I will never say it. It's better to be the bigger person really for all concerned. I don't know why people are hurtful in the comments they leave on SM sites.
