Great list. It's hard for small business owners and entrepreneurs to find business specific networking sites. Thanks for the resource!

I do notice you haven't included StumbleUpon or Digg, for example, but I guess I side with Brian Clark of Copyblogger on this one...except maybe in a different direction. I think the category of social media (the term you use is social network) is a great deal broader than perhaps people often consider when using the label. Brian, for example, wrote a post about how he's tired of people putting blogs in a separate category than the rest of social media. I tend to feel the same about bookmarking and many of the other genres people might not immediately think of as social media or social networks. But just as with Digg or StumbleUpon...or Flickr for that matter, at BizSugar your submissions stand a much better chance of acceptance if there are other people you have connected with, who's stuff you have commented on and who have commented on your stuff. In short, your stuff is better accepted and finds a wider audience if you are not simply submitting articles but actually involved (networking socially?) in the BizSugar community. In this sense, I guess there are probably even more sites you might want to add but in that case you'll need an even longer list.

Wow. What a list. Was surprised at first scan not to see Facebook and Twitter among the 40 before I realized you were deliberately leaving them out of the mix. One obvious site I think you should consider, though as a moderator here I clearly have a vested interest, is our own little community BizSugar.com. How about adding us on?

@Shawn

Hey Shawn, just saw your comment on this and thought I'd offer up a response. I absolutely love Bizsugar, and think it's a great resource for small biz info, but I see it as more of a bookmarking service than a social network that's why I didn't include it.

Thoughts?
