I have notice there are an abundance of social marketing positions listed everyday and a massive pool of individuals applying for the opportunities. While there is much opportunity on both ends, I am not sure hiring companies and applicants really know what social marketing is and its real impact...

Yea, if only social media marketing were as easy as opening a Facebook account, sharing a couple of photos and then calling it a day, right? Unfortunately, we all know that's not how it works. I like the question because i know that many of us don't know the exact meaning of social marketing. At least, before you jump into something, try and know as much as you can about it to avoid making mistakes. Thanks for sharing this with the community.
