You may think that only big companies need to worry about having a privacy policy on their website. Wrong.

Most countries have privacy laws that require you to include a privacy policy, which is a statement of your data collection as a disclosing service to your visitors.

If you are collecting payment information, using cookies to collect information about your users, or collecting any data about your users, you should have a privacy policy.

You can use a privacy policy generator to create a boilerplate policy for you (however seeking professional legal advice is always recommended).

I don't know of any caveat emptor generator I'm afraid. I'm not a lawyer so take this with a pinch of salt (actually make that two handfuls). You might not know that you are collecting personal information, but if you are tracking visitors with analytics, displaying ads or using any 3rd party services - then you may need to have a privacy policy.

Thanks for the input. I will take this into consideration. I know that the EU bureaucrats have enforced a cookie notice rule.

For the record, I am big advocate of privacy and personal integrity, but I am not in favor of these mandatory rules that are imposed on us, all the time.

Best Premises,

Welcome to BizSugar! Do you know about a simple, "Caveat emptor," sort of generator? I don't have any general privacy policy on my sites. I don't collect any personal information or private information from the visitors to my site, what I know of.
