We recently got our new business company name approved by Swedish Companies Registration Office, after some email correspondence back and forth! ;) Here you often have to add a suffix like the geographical location (e.g., Company X in Gothenburg) in the name in order to be unique. It is not going along with your tip, Don't box yourself in.
How about peculiar spelling? What would you say about Flickr and Tumblr?
