Great piece, Michael. Glad to see it here on bizsugar. People have many reasons as to why they feel held back in their business. You gave some valid reasons but it's a matter of choosing not to let yourself be held down, regardless of the obstacles. Thanks for sharing your insights with us.

Excellent summary of what holds potential entrepreneurs back. I think #3 is most critical. You can overcome the remaining ones with the help of others, but if you are willing to take risk and fail, and learn from failure you will never be able to take that first step. Once you have overcome that you can work on other roadblocks that hold you back.

You really touch upon two of the most common "excuses" I've heard: 'I have a full time job' or 'I don't have enough money'. As stated, every little bit helps, whether it's time or money. Thanks for sharing.

I think both of these points can certainly hinder growth, but they may not necessarily be roadblocks to running a successful business. It's all about being disciplined, knowing your boundaries, setting priorities, and knowing when those priorities need re-aligning.
