Too many entrepreneurs confuse motion with momentum. We all know someone who repeatedly tells us how “busy” they are, when it’s hard to see what they get done. Momentum is moving things forward (mass x velocity). Founders or employees in constant motion, but with no momentum, will kill any startup.

This is a great reminder that it's results, not effort, that count in business.

Rob Adams points out that most people are afflicted with a mentality that drives them to produce tangible deliverables, irrespective of whether these contribute to the success of the business. Such "busy work" can deter people from tackling projects that may ultimately be more impactful.

"Judge by results...not work!" That said it all for me

Great article,

This really is something that you have to watch out for constantly. Working just to work is far easier (psychologically) than sitting down and making sure you are heading in the right direction.

Martin,

A very insightful post with great information. Judging by the title it sounded like a physics lesson. Thanks for a great read!
