I think that a book written in 28 days will look like a book written in 28 days. And that's usually not a good thing.

Some SOBERING figures for book writers.

I'm told by a big publisher I know that the average time to write a book...that is writing, editing, proofing and readying the manuscript for and editor to ready it for publication is 90 to 120 days.

Secondly, even more sobering perhaps: only 1 out of every 3,000 mauscripts submitted ends up being published.

Self-publishing is another beast altogether; anybody can publish their own book.

As a literary writer myself I have had many works published in journals and magazines. Short fiction and poetry. A book however is a huge undrtaking...one I have tried, but never finished.
