I agree with what Patricia said about keeping videos short (I'd say less than 4 minutes, Maximum - no matter who you are, including the President). I see a video blog as something that should take the same time as reading a blog - if the blogger is asking me to spend 30 minutes or an hour, I feel they're likely delusional. Blocks of time that long are reserved for Hollywood TV shows, movies, and concerts - with top quality production values, not droning talking heads instructing us or selling something.
In some cases, I sense video is used as a "secret weapon" to decrease the bounce rate (which is what you mentioned in the article), but it can backfire.
