A tribe is a group of people connected to one another, connected to a leader, and connected to an idea, per Seth Godin. Launching such ubiquitous tribes these days is as easy as starting a blog / website, creating a Facebook Page, signing up for a Twitter account, or creating a Meetup Group.

I am actually in a couple of tribes. They are working great and getting a lot of engagement from people. I found having a mix of people in there is great even though a lot of people will tell you they want everything related. If you know of any on blogging I would like to get in them, just send me a PM :)

Tribe building is an integral part of the branding process these days, and with good reason. Tribes give feedback that helps avoid costly mistakes and helps you maintain your direction, momentum, and growth. It's much more than just a marketing ploy. Tribes can literally help you build your brand.

Thanks, Heather. I agree with all your points - a powerful approach indeed. And, definitely needs to be approached differently from traditional segment-based marketing.
