a) I re-positioned who I am professionally and the services I offer.
b) My biz model had been based on short-term engagements, I sought out companies (many start-ups) that I could grow with and have much longer-term engagements with.
c) When the recession hit, I initially fell into the trap of chasing business, while I secured clients this way, the quality of these relationships was often poor. Now, mainly because I have been able to substantially build my personal brand, clients seek me out and these are the right types of people and businesses for me to work with. I qualify hard and early only taking on a percentage of those that want to do businesses.
