Do you have an exit strategy? If you don't have a logical, well-thought out answer to this question along with a strategy for implementation, then you better stop to read this article.
Succession planning is something you don't see nearly enough blogging about on business Websites despite the potential importance of the topic. I'm sure it's a place CFOs can be of particular help. This post is a great start for bringing up the topic but I think it would be neat to see even longer and more detailed posts on both succession planning and building your business to sell, which is also touched on a bit in this article, sort of succession planning or preparing your business for sale primers, if you will. Both are definitely under discussed niches, don't you think? Love to see more posts on both these topics. Just food for thought.
I know the very one. Actually, John just recently did a question and answer pod cast series for Inc.com which I'm going to try to post here before the weekend is over. The pod cast series provides much valuable information on the topic of selling a business and I think it will be of great value to BizSugar members. Please be sure to watch for it and give it some sugar when you see it.
I completely agree. In five days I am actually moderating a panel on the topic of "Preparing for a Fruitful Harvest from your Business." I'm sure we could write dozens of blog posts on the content from that panel, let alone all of the other angles to this topic.
I have read a very good book on the subject called Built to Sell by John Warrillow. Are you familiar with it?
