With high profile attacks by hacker-activist groups, the increasing monetization of cyber attacks by organized crime and increase industry regulations, it’s sometimes hard to keep up with everything going on in information security. However, computer security affects any business with a website, online database or computer.

For that reason, here are seven information security buzzwords every small business owner should know…

Some scary buzz words there - they sound like terms from a horror movie, techno style!

Here in Ireland we have had huge problems with BYOD, employees not securing their laptops and mobile devices with the basics, like passwords. Another problem is physical theft - laptops being stolen from CFOs and Directors of large Insurance and Financial firms, with un-secured information like account details and financial information about customers - so it happens to the best of them.

I believe it is the responsibility of everyone - the firm and the employee/director to protect their devices/information as BEST they can.

Of course with the onset of cloud computing, this is posing greater problems for the smaller firms, and the more traditional firms, reluctant to move to the cloud. Education and awareness are key.

Great words! Typosquatting I assume can be also used to defame or detract traffic from a legitimate site

Surprisingly I already knew 5 out of the 7 buzzwords. I do think some of these are important..I know that more and more businesses are faced with the possible security breach that non-company smartphones pose. A friend that works in a tech firm told me that his company is trying to adapt to allow people to use their own comm devices, rather than insist on company cell phones. But they're spending a bit of time and money to make this happen for the employees. It's a good thing they're in pharma too, so they have the bucks to do it, haha.
