I have been a Gmail user for a very long time. (I am paying for extra storage space on Gmail.) I remember that I had Outlook Express on an old laptop and it took forever to start up the program. Regarding folders / labels and other ways of sorting email messages, have you checked out ActiveInbox or Mailbox? I am developing my own version of "zero" inbox by searching for stuff, archiving messages now and then and start out from scratch. I will find a fool proof system, eventually... ;) It is good to know that you could rely on the search feature!

Thanks a lot! No, I haven't tried those tools/extensions. As time permits, I will be exploring those and other Gmail features and add-ons, and will certainly share what I find.
