How about trusting your employees? How much time, effort and money will these tools require?

I worked in a Hospital where one of the first things they told new employees was that every keystroke on their computers could be tracked, and that anyone caught looking up info they were not allowed to see would be fired. That's a special case, because of Patient Confidentiality. I agreed with that under those circumstances, but I also agree with Rivkah that generally no one needs "Big Brother" breathing down their neck - it's creepy.

Ofira,

They are very interesting tools but as a supervisor of some 70-80 employees I would never use such a thing. Invasion of privacy can break down trust and when that's gone, you have nothing. More importantly with this article, at least as far as I'm concerned, is letting employees know the tools that are at the bosses disposal to monitor them. Perhaps just knowing that they could be watched will be enough to ensure that their behaviors are appropriate!
