5 Tips to Revitalize Your Small Business & Revamp Weak Sales in 2011
"Yoni, "The problem with being a freelancer however is that things tend to be "feast or famine." Either so many client inquiries you have to turn people away...or those endless days and weeks waiting for the phone to ring" That's interesting... Have you ever tried to see if there a pattern to this? Meaning, certain times of the year or month are busier than others? Or you get more inquiries after writing certain kinds of posts/articles? Even if it all seems random, it may not be. If you can figure it out then you can come to anticipate (more or less) whether a given time will be "feast or famine" then can act accordingly, and hopefully smooth things out a bit... Thanks for the compliment! Adam"Collecting on Overdue Debt: Spread Goodwill Without Loosing Your Shirt
"Yoni, Do you have a written Independant Contractor Agreement? If you don't, then you need one- especially as a freelance writer. In it you can specify the details of your assignment, when it is due, how much and when you'll get paid, etc, and you could try to get a kill fee added in as well. I have a sample contract on my site (http://frugalentrepreneur.com/free-business-forms-templates/) that you could look at to give you an idea of what to include. If both you and the client sign it (you can even do this online with a e-signature app such as Adobe esignature https://esign.adobe.com/), then at least you have a legal document in your hands should the client try to "disappear." "Enlightening post Anthony. It seems a lot of people are shooting themselves in the foot when it comes to sales and customer relations... Sadly, it's a situation that will probably get worse before there's enough backlash for it to get better since so many businesses and so many people are financially under pressure these days. It's hard to keep your priorities straight when you have a hard time paying your bills. Adam"What To Do With The Customer Feedback Once You Receive It!
"Hi Jason, This is so important... I think many business owners may not realize the value of considering and responding to customer feedback. Even a customer complaint can be leveraged if handled properly: A business owner can use it to improve the way business is done, and by getting back to the customer in a sincere way, the customer may end up having an even more favorable view of the business than he would have if he'd never made the complaint in the first place. "Yoni, Technology is not the problem. It's here to stay, and we're *all* benefiting from it... The problem is our attitude toward these "must-have" products. "I wonder how much of the obsolescence is built-in obsolescence aka: let's not give them all of the goodies now" Of course it's built-in. Did you ever notice how the quality of things nowadays (think: appliances, cars, furniture, clothing) is junk compared to how they used to make them? "QUALITY, PERSONALIZED, VALUE, CHARACTER, SATISFACTION, RELATIONSHIP, CRAFTSMANSHIP, DISTINCTION, CONSISTENCY, SMILE, HANDSHAKE and PRIDE. Business terms that will never become obsolete..." I couldn't agree with you more! Adam "Is Social Media Killing Traditional Business Networking?
"Yoni, A hundred percent... Social media works the best when it's an enhancement of what you are already doing well. Problems arise when too many resources are being thrown into the process without either a clear plan of action or realistic expectations"Is Social Media Killing Traditional Business Networking?
"Alastair, I've seen it myself as well. This is how it should be, in my opinion. The problem is for many people that the social media networking seems to take over the real life "counterpart." When that starts happening, then everything goes downhill. Adam"Subscribe

"Very good point, Susan... But I wonder if many small business owners are simply afraid to raise their prices, even if operational costs go up, because they fear they'll lose business. Adam"
