HARO is an excellent tool. You need to fill out quite a few pitches, but they will eventually pay off. I like to recommend having a "news" tab on your website as it helps when pitching ideas to other media outlets (you can show where you have previously been featured or contributed with a quote)."
I agree with Johnfaust that it can potentially be harmful (my words, not his). Many companies are scared to use employee ambassadors as they are scared of how an employee may represent them. I always recommend to direct your employees on your company's culture and motto so that they can properly represent you. Don't just unleash them and hope they will do their best. Everyone needs coaching and employee ambassadors are no different. With that in mind, I also tell clients that you MUST implement employee ambassadors as they are the best representation of your company. "
Great article. I would advise against replacing "citation needed" tags as bots are set up to watch for that. Even if you replace with a good source, newer editors may be accused of spamming simply for doing so. When adding links, I also advise to become a contributor (like you mention in the article) and actually contribute to an article. You can then use the link you want to add (assuming it is a reliable source) to support the content you are adding. "
Don't forget #7 - falling asleep at the wheel. I find that I have to kick myself in the rear from time to time as I start to limit the amount of marketing that I do because I am keeping up with paying work. Having a plan and sticking to it (no matter how little or how much) is important to keeping your website high in SERPS as well as customers engages. Great article! Thanks for sharing. "
