"At least in the interim, if you're using Chrome, you can add an extension (Show Me Emoji) that translates the black and white boxes into emojis so you know what they're meant to say. You can also select the emojis you want, copy and paste the black and white boxes back in, and the smartphone user should be able to see them. Hopefully more and more platforms will adopt the very visual form of writing, because it's obvious that people love it. "It's definitely a way for local shops to show that they're socially savvy, and a fun way to connect with their customers. To be clear, Twitter isn't letting you use emojis, it's just allowing them to show up. You still need to post from your iPhone using emojis for them to be available. "There's an emoji free app that you can download on the iPhone, and then you'll need to go to your settings->General->Keyboard->Keyboards and select the emoji language keyboard (just like you would for any other foreign language keyboard). Happy emoji-ing!"Subscribe
