Social Media Skills Help Pay the Cost of Publishing a Book
"I've got to agree with you there: socializing a book really gets the word out and makes a much bigger splash upon publishing. On the other end, it also helps validate that there is an audience for a book, even before it is written. How powerful is that for a publisher and how motivating for an author? -Matt"Why brick-and-mortar businesses must have a website that sells
"I think the resistance comes from two sources. First, promotion exhaustion - brick-and-mortar owners are under constant assault from vendors who want them to buy advertising and listings and coupons. After being visited by the yellow pages sales guy every day for a month, a website pitch falls on deaf ears. Second, understanding the value proposition - up until recently, it has been difficult to sell the value of having a website to a brick-and-mortar business owner (restaurants are a different story - they should have had their menus online years ago). However, with the rise of location-based smart phone apps, the equation has really shifted and those without a site are now gong to feel the squeeze. If they don't get the value now, it's going to spell trouble. Matt"How to find customers - using pubic relations to cast a net
"Great points Shawn! I do find it interesting to see how people handle social media measurement. It's likely that as the 'new kid on the block', people just don't trust that it can be as effective as traditional marketing and thus want to see some proof by holding it to a higher standard. However, as you rightly noted, the proof is in the pudding and if your message start to get repeated, and clients start coming in, you are seeing measurable success."Subscribe
Matt About Friday: The "Pimp Your Presentation" Edition
"Thanks! I am so happy to have piqued your interest! Beware, the tools are lots of fun and can suck time! However, they are pretty agile and can help you present information in ways that are easy to consume (as many presentations are not)."
