Heather correct. It's important to look at employees as an investment on our balance sheets, not as an expense on the income statement. In that way companies begin to appreciate in value more by valuing employees (potential and existing) more for their contributions to the bottom line. Thanks for your comment."
Yes Elaine, any small - or large - business can understand. Implementation is oftentimes impeded by the rush to get things done - whatever the "thing" is. Always advise businesses to slow down just a tad to ask 2 questions (at least): Is the change occurring and why, and how can we manage this change better?"
Lisa, timely article. General rules and policies, in my experience, develop based on prior instances. Discretion and good judgment unfortunately are being replaced by an attitude of saying what people want, even if it is less than positive communication.
