Jennifer, nice post. I usually advise entrepreneurs to develop a budget for the first 2 years, calculating when they will be cash-positive, and then setting aside working capital that is 3 times that amount - to accommodate unforeseen events. You are right about the time necessary, you have to have the passion and funds to see the first 3 years through. Thanks for posting on BizSugar."
John negotiation skills are not needed in every sales process. Listening is, as well as letting the prospect feel they are in control of that process. Depending on the product or service being offered, the prospect needs to understand how that product or service meets their specific needs and requirements. Negotiating skills are not always necessary to answer the prospect's needs. Thanks for posting on BizSugar."
Lisa, reminds me of the adage, "discretion is the better part of valor." In our coaching and placement practice we find that those who heed this great advice will be successful in their next endeavor, and as such we are more inclined to refer them to open positions. Those that do not, well, working with a half-empty cup does not fill the well for any potential employer."
As a job placement company and one who provides career coaching we review resumes daily. Decide if you want a chronological, functional, or blended resume style. Decide what to put in the cover letter to call attention to the 13 seconds we give your resume. Yes, keywords help. The remaining factors cited should emphasize proper grammar. If you can't write well, you can't communicate well. If you can't communicate well, you don't get a full minute for a second review. Job search techniques and resume development are not as simple as stated. Sorry, that's a professional opinion based on years in the business. Thanks for posting on BizSugar."
Helen - this review if great. Thanks. Description of the accountancy reasons, particularly for valuation purposes is very helpful. While not an SaaS service, when I provide yearly coaching or business planning service that is paid in full in advance, it gets allocated the same way by my accountant, but I understand better now the "why.""
