Build An Old Fashioned Business Community, But Do It Online!
"This is the crucial connection between online and offline connections and relationships, regardless of where they happen first. Great post Niall, and an absolute testament to how you combine and nurture both. You are a supreme example of how it is done so well, and I truly believe the success of TYB and its growing respectful community is primarily down to your approach, attitude and communication style. I have noticed a growth in online communities that are meeting more offline also. I believe this is the acceptance and realisation that one builds on the other, and they are not mutually exclusive, but mutually interdependent. Space needs to be made for both! And I thoroughly enjoy and get great personal and professional benefit from both."5 Ways To Benefit From Customer Video Testimonials
"Video captures sound, picture, the written word and emotion. It appeals to each type - whether people like to read at leisure, watch moving imagery or tap in at an emotional level. The emotion is important, I feel, as it adds an extra dimension to one way communication. With video there is the added benefit of facial expresion, body language and tonality to reach out to your audience, it shows you are human, and can help demonstrate passion for your business/product. Informative that videos can be, they are also a great connector. Of course, not to take away from the power of great words written, or blow your mind imagery. As well, there is a lot of buzz now about the necessity to add video to websites, blogs etc - the last frontier of social networking as we know it. Great post Niall and Sean, I am currently working on adding video to my bag of tricks :)"Big Pharma, The MDEC Communication Model And Improved Innovation
"Internal Collaboration - an interesting one with regard to MDEC. I have worked with companies who are advocates of internal collaboration, In fact I created a whole library of training videos for a particular client to train their employees on how to use their collaboration software. It even included wikis :) However, it would never have happened had the CEO not been passionate about wikis, shared workspaces, and video conferencing. So I feel buy-in from the top can hugely influence the success of bringing people together internally, and actively collaborating. The benefits are as you mention in your article. Ironically, there were still a few die hards that just had to share everything by emailing back and forth, and their idea of collaboration was to use the "reply all" button in their email account! Interesting thought provoking article. "Online Video: Likes Through A Global Lens
"Niall / Fiona, What a great list of resources, thanks for researching and sharing. Video is only one aspect of multi media and social media (even for business) it's amazing it is so slow to take off (esp in Ireland!!) I think what will happen, people will get into video out of necessity and the web will get full of "junk". But for the rest of us who have been watching and listening to ourselves for a while now, we have the head start (I say that flippantly). It really is the last frontier of socially connecting with customers and followers, and business owners will be racing to join Toastmasters in an effort to rid themselves of on-screen nerves. Yet a new industry is born... Great article!"Is It Time To Give Old Ideas A New Spin?
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it! My old telly still works, but will not provide me with a signal at the end of this year when our PBS (in Ireland) goes digital. Sometimes, we have to rework old ideas, and revive them. It's like great business ideas, they often come from previously great business ideas that have worked. We do not necessarily have to re-invent the wheel every time, but tap into what's out there already. Great post Eamonn, a nice thought provoker :)"Subscribe

"Another wonderfully articulated interview Sian! Margaret is definitely one to "watch" and best of all, if anyone can identify with her story, she is literally a tweet away @umnumnumm and so generous with her time, as any good business person would be. Well done girls!"
