Pat Henry: I think that geo location based services could be of good use for local business, reaching out to loyal customers and "ambassadors" on the internet. I also think that this behavior will lead to more "meetups" in the future. The "Third Place" is getting more available. "
Listen to Anita Campbell's podcast, The Latest Trends Driving Small Business. She has a segment called, "Location Based Presence Online." Google Latitude and Foursquare are mentioned. http://www.smbtrendwire.com/2010/05/05/the-latest-trends-driving-small-business/ Personally I have been using Gowalla for sometime and I enjoy the way you could arrange meetings and keeping in touch with Twitter friends. Check out net@night's podcast interviews with Gowalla and Foursquare for more information. http://www.twit.tv/natn134 http://www.twit.tv/natn132"
Hi Susan, You are not forced to refer other members, but you should have them in mind when you think it could be an appropriate match. I am a new member, but I already have a a sense that BNI members are holding a high standard in general. You have to go through a process that Ivan Misner calls V.C.P. (Visibility - Credibility - Profitability) Read his post, The VCP Process(R) of Relationship Networking. http://www.ecademy.com/node.php?id=101572 Have you read John Jantsch's post, The Confusing Opportunity of Referral? http://www.bizsugar.com/Marketing/the-confusing-opportunity-of-referral-duct-tape-marketing-/"
Anthony, You have written a very interesting post. I will link to it when I have set up my new site Ego Sole Trader. As an experienced purchaser, I want to discuss this topic further in the near future. I am planning to write a document on the trader principle and why it is important with the exchange between a sales person and a purchaser. A purchaser should look for at least three things: quality, price and delivery (lead) time. I think it is time to look outside the different silos of the organization and implement an integrated approach, through the whole supply and value chain."
