Compelling Argument Against Cold Calling
"I think this piece by Jeremy Miller and printed with permission by Doyle at Sales Blogcast is excellent. I don't agree that cold calling is dead because I think it is often used inappropriately, like many things, as a panacea for sales and marketing problems. Cold calling has its place and in today's conversation economy that is in an educational sales cycle. The smart sales people I know are creating webinars, screencasts, free applications that you can share with a customer/prospect. A cold call with a resource to share is pretty effective. I have clients that are doing it as I type and it works. If you call up and pretend to know your customer's business, don't offer anything of specific value in the call, etc., then yes, cold calling isn't very effective. "Sell Your Products from Your Competitors' Stores
"I read Chris' piece tonight and found it very informative. I do not have an online business/store, but the opportunities from Android and others with reading barcodes is amazing. (Amazon had something as I recall that allows you to text message into to check a price). I'll be reading more of Chris Crum's work. Thanks for voting this in here. "Subscribe
Why Coming "Social Commerce" Era Should Terrify Brand Marketers
"Hmm. Terrifying in a good sense. Control is a challenge for many companies and power in the hands of the people, the customers, has often been a positive thing. I think this change could be very helpful. I'm a fan of Forrester, but I also sense that their reports are not always as objective as it appears. I have not purchased any reports recently, but perhaps they disclose more clearly now that some of the companies in the report are clients of theirs. Perhaps they always have. My point is we should search for bias and be aware of it -- it isn't wrong in and of itself. "
