Why Productize Your Service Business
"Great advice! I did the same with marketing plan templates - turned my knowledge of building marketing plans into a downloadable marketing plan template builder product on my smallbiz site sbmarketingtools.com. Its been a nice little source of income but also a nice way to share my expertise with a larger audience."Niche Marketing for Small Businesses
"Yes, although I did not personally write this article (its written by a contributor on my site), I do work for a small business entity that "found its niche". I handle marketing for a company called SureShade - American startup that I have been with since the beginning - we make retractable sunshades for the boating industry and basically created a new niche in the industry for branded shade systems. SureShade is still very much a growing small business but we are quickly becoming the new standard for shade in boating available on over 50 boat models worldwide."Is Customer Service the Forgotten Marketing Channel? [INFOGRAPHIC]
"Thanks for your comment Martin. Although SalesForce did not list themselves specifically as a customer service marketing channel they likely produced this infographic because they want to be seen as more of a tool businesses can use to enhance their customer service and marketing efforts. That is typically why brands sponsor content like this infographic. And as a tool that helps you manage your customer database (both existing & prospects) I can see how it benefits the effort."Is Customer Service the Forgotten Marketing Channel? [INFOGRAPHIC]
"To answer your question below (no "reply" button on your comment for some reason)... As marketing director for a small business myself I HAVE to say SureShade - they are a startup in the boating industry and realize word of mouth is so important for growth so we make customer service a top priority. Outside of my company, I have been super impressed with 4imprint - we tend to order last minute items from them for events and my rep is super responsive... makes all the difference and I always go back to them based on their great service (and products). In an industry where their business could be considered a commodity, its their service that makes them stand out."3 Direct Mail Flubs Costing You Big Bucks
"Thanks Heather! I can chime in for Joy, because I have a lot of experience in this area as well... The best way to isolate the issue you may be having with design is to run A/B tests to compare slight changes in design. Working with a direct mail shop is the best way to accomplish this - you give them 2 designs of your direct mail to run (with a different 800# or code on each) and have them split the list with the mailing. The test can be as simple as a different headline or image, or it could be a different size, format, etc. Testing is always the best answer to optimize."Subscribe
Six Sneaky Ways to Scope Out Your Competition
"Good questions for the author Kevin to answer (comment on article & he can answer), but I would say there is absolutely nothing to stop your competition checking up on you using these tactics if they are savvy enough... so you may as well beat them to it & stay one step ahead of them!"
