Are You Ready to Start Your Own Business?
"Ronika, Happily I have found my footing as an independent freelance writer. But...it was not always the case. I quit my last traditional job on a whim and decided to go indie. There were a lot of months when I stayed by the phone praying clients would call. Downtime was frequent. I would recommend to anyone wanting to go the entrepreneur route or freelance to do it gradually. As they say..."don't quit your day job!" Thanks for a great post! "Pretty cool Jason! I usually have no idea that things like this even exist. My idea of Social Media is pretty much writing a blog post and Tweeting it. One day I'll get over my tech phobia and reluctance and start using tools like this. Very informative post and video. Yoni"SWOT Strength: Employees Who Know They Can Make A Difference
"Wdywft(Anna): I have read quite a few posts recently stating that Business bloggers should not use personal perspective in blog posts. I have vehemently disagreed with them. Your posting of today is an excellent reason why they are wrong! You have beautifully used a personal example, a VERY personal example and in the process extracted some amazing and very touching lessons. Let this posting serve as a GREAT example to the detractors: personal perspective and glimpses of our lives have every reason being in Business blog postings! "Ivan, A good article, though to each his own. Many people strive for the newest and the most-advanced. I'm in my second year of my writing business which includes blogging for myself and four other companies (mostly ghost-blogging) as well as resumes, corporate bios, speeches and the rest. I hate technology! I have succeeded and will hopefully continue to succeed with no cell phone, no iPad and no laptop. All I have in my home office is an old Pentium 3, a landline phone, pencil, paper and sticky notes. And oh yeah, two dogs! I let anyone who wants to hire me know that the only way to reach me is to email, phone me and/or leave a message. While some try to incorporate all things new, there are some old vestigal holdouts from the past who prove that old fashioned can succeed too! "Susan, I had a Marketing class one summer while at West Virginia University (WVU). Unfortunately there was beer, sunshine and some very pretty ladies at a nearby place called Cheat Lake (no pun intended in reference to your last article!) I attended the class on the first day, midterm exam and finals. Though I passed, I didn't learn much. Regrets! Marketing seems so hard. So involved. Which is why I leave experts like you to help fill in the blanks! Thanks for that expertise! I'd like to also wish you luck with your new venture. I will be taking a two week break from blogging as I will be in and out of the hospital for "routine maintenance." I won't be posting but will be checking in for your articles! Yoni"Telling The Truth
"wdywft, Interesting post though just yesterday I read a contrarian viewpoint in the Harvard Journal. It states in fact that leaders on top are generally more adept and more prone to lie and to justify it.
