"Susan, I had the opposite happen. The year was 1994...I re-located to Baltimore, USA, for a job. I needed a car. I was on a budget so told the salesperson I wanted a car (Ford Escort) without air-conditioning...it would save me $1,000. The salesman, a great Marketer, pleaded with me. He explained that summer in Baltimore is sweltering, high temps and high, high humidity. I ignored his pleas. "You'll regret it," he said. The two summers I was in Baltimore, I arrived at work, dates and meetings soaking wet with sweat. Sometimes going with a base-model is a good decision.
