TV Advertising, Traditional Marketing and SEO
"Alastair, A great article and a very good premise. Except for the huge companies with astronomical budgets set aside for advertising on TV and the front page of the New York Times, ads are constrained by budgets. You are right that a good commercial can really capture your attention, but it can tend to fade away -out of sight, out of mind- after time and when the money for the ad-blitz runs out. Most people do go to Google as you say and even though it will give you 10 million results for "car insurance" I doubt that many people search past Page 2. "Virtuosi, Very nice job. It's also possible to extrapolate these 7 points and to say that they are the same mistakes which can harm a blog. I have the same type of bio at the end of my blog as you...kind of a sales-pitch and a "get to know me" sort of thing. So many blogs lack this and the contact info...I finish reading a great blog and think to myself "so what do you want from me now?" As you state, "you will lose visitors, clients and money!" Blogs and websites alike are a great way to "sell' yourself; I'm still amazed at how many people miss the boat. Yoni"Introspection Alludes To Whispers Of What Might Be
"Jackie, Nice article and a retrospective of a lifetime of work. Whenever I look back at the changes my life has gone through and the re-inventions people go through, I think of John Travolta. In the early eighties, post "Saturday Night Fever" and a string of crappy flicks, he couldn't get a job to save his life. He was so type-cast as Vinny Barbarino and whatever his name was in SNF. Suddenly, with Pulp Fiction he was re-invented and now he's got a new flick coming out almost every month it seems. So many times in life finding a door that's just open a crack can lead to transition and positive change. I don't know where this comment is going but I loved the article and especially the line "I myself will continue to explore every opportunity that presents, every whisper from my soul." Good luck in your continued adventure known as life! Yoni "Picking Out the Experts from the Actors: 10 Tips to Help You Decide Who to Trust Online
