How to Stop Micromanaging Your Team
"Unfortunately "MY TEAM" has eight legs, eight paws, two tails and two noses. Yes, two dogs. I will try to stop micro-managing them :) Hopefully one day my one-person writing business will have a few employees. But then, my only concern will be being mean to them, bossing them around and having them make me coffee! All kiding aside Sheri, great article! Yoni"Why Is The Customer Always Right?
"Hah Bloggertone. Good premise, Though I disagree! I used to work on the assumption that the customer was always right. In my writing business, it allowed customers to walk all over me. Endless re-writes. "Oh, that's not what I meant. Do those forty pages again this way." "But Mr. _______, here are your original instructions, I followed them to the letter!" "The customer is always right" dehumanizes the service provider. It means that in the case of disagreement, we are always wrong by default. Last week I had a rude, belligerent and obnoxious client. He wanted a free re-write even after I proved to him that I followed his original instructions 100%. When he persisted, I told him to take his money and go elsewhere. The time I spent on his project? I'd rather leave him hanging and not get paid than kiss his butt! Yoni"Countdown to the Big Game: Super Bowl is interesting even if you are not a hardcore football fan
"Very nice job Shashi. I typically watch the Super Bowl here in Israel with friends in a pub where the Guinness flows nicely. There's a pretty big American ex-pat community here in Jerusalem. I love the game, the commercials, the Marketing and everything...except that the game starts at 3 in the morning and ends as the sun is coming up :("9 Psychological Traits that Influence Our Investing and Business Decisions
"Ronika, Fantastic article. Very educational and thought-provoking. I did my undergraduate in Psychology at West Virginia University (WVU), the most behavioral school in the nation. Need proof? B.F Skinner's (militant behavioralist--"Beyond Freedom and Dignity") daughter Julia Vargas was one of my professors. We spent months and months with rats in Skinner boxes and Chinese fighting fish in front of mirrors learning that beings have no thoughts or impulses other than being robot-like reactors to the environment. Thanks for proving them wrong and showing that there is a lot more thought, weighing and factorial considerations than they expound! Yoni"Subscribe
3 Lessons Learned From My First Year of Freelancing
"Hesham, Great lessons. Freelancing is the best lifestyle if you do things correctly. I wouldn't trade my freedom if somebody offered me $100,000/year to return to an office and a 9 to 5 job! Yoni"
