Quit your day job and start a small business. It's every would-be entrepreneur's fantasy. But is it really the best way to go? Well, quitting your day job isn't tough but following through on your entrepreneurial dream sure is, says Matt over at Signal vs. Noise, the 37 Signals blog. Matt's argument makes a lot of sense, that staying with your day job and developing something on the side can often be a better approach avoiding the desperation of the more extreme approach. But speaking from experience, necessity is the mother of invention and sometimes nothing brings it out like desperation, the need to make a living. Having a full-time job can also make you a part-time entrepreneur never able to devote the commitment necessary to follow things through. I'm not saying Matt is wrong. Keeping your day job is the most prudent approach. It depends on who you are and how you work best.
