Great article. I write for our local paper on occasion, mostly features in the weekend magazine. The pay is crappy but it opens doors. I have had many clients contact me asking "Are you the guy in The post?" The projects I have been hired for more than make up for the crappy pay. Newspapers open doors in more ways than one :)
