Yes! Alexa Rank matters, sorry I just had to be blunt about it. Alexa rank is simply a numerical position of your site compared to all the other sites in the world. For example, Google and Facebook are the two most visited sites in the world and thus occupy the top two positions. Alexa rank is simply a measure of your site traffic compared to all the others in the world.

I think Alexa rating matters in certain cases. It matters but it's not everything. I've seen blogs that have a high alexa rating, but have a very active and engaging community and have tons of comments on their content. So it really depends on the purpose of your blog and what you're aiming to do with it. Thanks for sharing your personal insights with us.

Interesting, you made some valid points about why it does matter, especially because it can be so unreliable (and unrelated to traffic, as you've seen). But you definitely hit on some good points that are more than just the ego of seeing good numbers!
