It's true, just like brand name snob appeal - Apple, Gibson guitars, Cadillacs, etc. You pay a lot more than its comparable value to get the hot brand (coming from a Gibson lover who's modified every one I've ever had to make it better playing from my personal point of view - even though the value is greatly lowered).
