Some good advice, depending on the type of business you have. For me, at least, I have to be accessible to my clients most of the time. I leave my email up and running often, and do check it at regular intervals, time and work permitting. But I make a rule to get back within 24 hours of having received a message, which is easy to do since I check regularly. I think there's a big difference between what employees should do and what indie contractors must do to keep the lines of communication open. Nice post!
