We all hate employee performance reviews, but some are worse than others. Here's a walk through some of the most common performance review concepts and how they compare to each other.
It isn't a question of the goal; every review process aims to be transparent and friendly rather than adversarial. Plus, both manager and employee want to come out of the process with something to measure and track so you can see improvement. Too bad it doesn't seem to work that way . . . .
I'll be the first to tell you that the slide show format here is, um, less than ideal. But I think the even-handed discussion makes it worth it anyhow.
