I like number 16...despite the somewhat unflattering metaphor for customers. Recently a business partner asked me if I'd like to go speak with someone from SBA about a startup we're working on. I said sure. Never say no to free advice even if you don't end up taking it. However, our product has already been launched and has some users...and a sales person out looking for customers. Never wait to prove a product until you've shopped it to investors. That way you can move forward regardless what they decide to do and say no easily to opportunities you don't think are right for you.
