Seiri involves taking a fresh look at the workplace and identifying unnecessary items. This means coming to terms with the now and eliminating what is not now. Denying the possibilities of “we might need that someday” and accepting that we won’t.

I think I get the idea, but I don't get Why...
i.e. This is fine IN Japan, where the people are Japanese - culturally, but why force a foreign culture on American workers IN America??
(If I moved to Japan, I'd be the one who needed to change to fit in, not the other way around. If I opened a factory in Japan, I'd realize the Japanese had different ways of working - I'd be working With them, their ways.)
