For the employees who are afraid to speak up or rock the boat, your encouragement can make all the difference in innovation.

Anita: I think you have develop a special kind of business environment that is open to innovation, progress and new thinking. One thing would to take inspiration from the leaders of the Renaissance, e.g., Leonardo da Vinci. He was both a great artist and inventor. Recommended reading: "How to Think Like Leonardo da Vinci" by Michael J. Gelb.

I commented on your post, Innovation Management Helps Make Your Idea Reality (December 20, 2011), that I would show that post to my friend, Stig Ottosson, author of Frontline Innovation Management – Dynamic Product and Business Development. Here is an excerpt from the description of his book:

"In short the practical work and research has led us to the conclusion that, independent of the product and/or business to be developed, clear advantages are gained using dynamic methods instead of the old classical/traditional ones taught and used generally. Examples of such advantages are lower failure risk, shorter time to market, less money and effort, better solutions reached, etc."

Great post that I really hope employers utilise. An employee will feel far more involved in the business if thinking of ways to innovate. The job becomes more than a 9 to 5 routine therefore. Thanks for sharing on Bizsugar.com
