Cate: Thanks for your reply. I have been blogging for 12+ years and I like to have my own hub. I will focus more on my podcast this year, because I like the "informal" way of producing content as you mention. I will combine the podcast with a blog, embedding the podcast html code into the posts.

I've thought about podcasting and have it on my long list of things to investigate further. Let me know how it goes for you!

Cate: Thanks for your sharing for your thoughts! That is your favorite form of writing blog posts?

I prefer straight-forward, factual, and informative. But I don't write a blog. I have a YouTube channel so I just speak to the camera. It's not the same as formal writing.

Cate: We think along the same way there, I think. I have to think bigger myself too. Thanks for sharing your thought on this topic. Have you written a post on your startup mistakes and what you have learned from them?

I haven't. I recognize that telling the story of an entrepreneur is a common tactic for business articles/blog posts but I personally hate the format and don't like to read articles like that, so I refuse to write that way myself.

Cate: Which is your biggest mistake and learning lesson so far?

I always have a tendency to think too small (#5)...and I still struggle with it...at least when it comes to me. I'm always able to encourage clients to think big and spot new sources of revenue and growth but I tend to think small when it comes to my own business.

Really great points you made here.I know two mistakes that I've made before is both going at it alone and skimping on a business plan. I've actually settled down and have began to really write out a business blueprint for myself and I've become a thousand times more productive. And as a part of that plan I've incorporated enlisting some partners to actually give me a hand which I know will be great for everyone involved.

Thanks for sharing you insights and this article with the BizSugar community.

So, what will you do if you have done all these start up mistakes, combined during the years?! ;) Maybe I have learned on or two things during the years. I wrote a post on this issue on American Express Open Forum: Five Lessons Learned from my Start-up — And why I’d Do it Again, 01/19/2009.
