Psychometrics arose from the theories of intellectuals like Darwin and Weber, their ideas fueling its birth as a field of research. Since then it’s been taken up by companies across the business spectrum, an array using psychometric tests to separate potential candidates.

I don't personally like the personality test because Heather said, they're not really a good indicator of if the person would actually perform good within the position. But the results can be interesting to review.

Hi Rieva,

I've got nothing against personality tests, but I think they serve as a tool not as a replacement for other means of judging a job candidate. I don't know how anyone else would rank various factors when deciding on a new hire. But I agree potential is a big factor to consider -- even if it's hard to measure. My question is why such weight is being placed on tests and whether it has to do with desire on the part of recruiters or employers to prove their decisions were not arbitrary.
