Projects can sometimes lose focus and seem to go on without purpose. Project managers are responsible for making sure that this does not happen. As the project progresses, change and challenge should be embraced and managed.

Hi Vanessa. Thanks for stopping by. You are right - the "seasons" can be experienced in every aspect of business.

Interesting way of looking at the product life cycle. But it leaves me wondering, is there a difference in the life cycle of successful as opposed to unsuccessful projects? Can looking at the life cycle give you early warnings of trouble ahead?

Hi Swawn. In answer to your first question, I would say yes. The difference being that while both will experience the seasons, the unsuccessful project will be dragged down by the poor handling of the "Autumn and Winter" phases i.e. by not handling things that were going wrong and becoming complacent earlier in the process. As to the second question you pose - I would say absolutely. Examination of the project from inception (concept phase) all the way through and identification of/mitigation against risks and issues is a constant process.

Thanks for the comment.

Regards
