In the online world I do think there are a lot of scammers. Perhaps they did not intend to be when they started out but their lack of expertise and skills have lead a number up the proverbial garden path.
I agree about ego and I would add that it is also a lack of self confidence that leads people over to the dark side.
Good series Jackie.

Always appreciate your thoughtful contribution.
It's a pity so many people get burned at the consequence of others experimentation and egos.

Sometimes there may be an analogy here with local politicians - the ones who go into it young & idealistic, but soon believe they can do no wrong. Sure, in their case it's power corrupting them, but there's a parallel with business big-shots who think their $h!+ doesn't stink. The ol' "What's good for General Motors is good for the country" bit (boy, I WISH that guy was still alive to hear GM beg for Gubmen money in October, 2008 - when he said it, GM grossed more than most Countries).

Success corrupts without doubt. It just depends in the indivudals internal compass and intent.
If there was ever a story of a major fall GM is right up there.
Thanks for your input Duncan, much appreciated.
