So, how do you bring your small business to your target market's attention? One way is to use the “build it and they will come” approach. This is usually not particularly effective (even Google, who historically launches products with little fanfare, could benefit from a little more marketing). Really comprehensive list. I'm hard pressed to think of anything you've forgotten. I think the key thing is to modify the options based on your needs. The real problem is that there are too many people seeking success marketing their businesses who, for some reason, never ask themselves what marketing channel is right for them. They simply do what everyone else does and expect it to work never considering what will work best for their own specific business.

Excellent article, excellent list. I love the line "nobody but your spouse and cat knows about the venture." For me, it was my spouse and dog!
Excellent choice as well with the cost-effective soup cans. When I started out that was incentive, because I knew if things didn't work out soup would probably be the only food item we could afford.
Thanks for another winning article!
