With all due respect, as a working member of the press for many years, I must say that this depends greatly upon your local paper. Some are so adverse to this kind of promotion nowadays and so strapped for advertising revenue that you must really be sure the information you're pitching is newsworthy to see it in print or definitely expect a visit from the local ad rep before the paper ever agrees to print a word.
