Now I know that not every customer is the same and each have their own set of credentials that they go through when making a purchase, but one thing is for sure that we are dealing with more different customers than we were ten years ago and it is a good thing. No longer can companies push their message onto customers and no longer can a company with a sub-par product or service be successful because bad news travels faster with the revamped word of mouth power on the web. For any business to be successful in today’s environment you need to understand today’s customers that are going to be walking into our door.

Another winner, Jason! Under #1, I was raised from toddler-hood not to believe ads (especially TV commercials) starting in the late 1950's when TV screens were still round. Ignoring ads is a life-long concept to me. What ever the ad says, I usually think the opposite (maybe I'm a contrarian).

I agree and I think the majority of us now operate that way with traditional media thanks to the new activities on the web.
