Jumping from one to another actually makes your marketing more complex instead of simpler, not to mention the time and/or money it takes. To take any confusion out of the decision here are a few questions to ask yourself before you dump what you are currently doing for another tactic:

I love your common sense approach. And I would add to your list of questions "Have you given it enough time to work?" In our age of instant gratification, we shouldn't forget the old fashioned value of patience.

if we do have to back out, it's important to learn from it and evaluate what went wrong and why. We always enjoy your articles!

I think a lot of the issues we face and setbacks in our tactics can be avoided by added research before beginning, but if we do have to back out, it's important to learn from it and evaluate what went wrong and why. We always enjoy your articles!

Thanks for your comments. You bring up an interesting point about research. Doing homework on your customers etc does help. Can you share what research you advise to help in this area?

Susan,

Thanks for another exceptional article. Oftentimes we must throw our hands up and turn to another approach, but as you state so well, we must also assess the reasons and evaluate our approaches. Learning from setbacks is the key to moving on. And also sometimes the assessment can lead to improvements in our current approach.

Very true Yoni that the assessment can lead to improvements. It isn't always a matter of ditching what we are currently doing.
