Unfortunately that still happens although I think people are getting smarter especially these days where they spend money.
All the best with your nursery job and it sounds like it will do you a lot of good. I saw that on TV, luckily it is now a bit too cold to be in the ocean.

Good point with the trainer. The other end of the spectrum is gyms that offer deep discounts to newbies for 2, 3, even 5 year gym memberships. People grab at it telling themselves they will go every day. Then they lose interest but their credit cards keep being billed for years and years.
On a personal note, I'doing the opposite right now, scaling down my brand. I've been going through some issues which are effecting my ability to write and concentrate. So I have taken, happily, a part-time job at a nearby plant nursery. Lots of green. Fresh air. Nature.
Writing will slowly become just a sidebar.
